Another week, another dead Google service as One VPN shuts down

This one stings a whole lot more than the axing of Google Podcast as many of our staff here at the Sypnotix actually use Google One VPN. The Pixel phone maker announced that they will be shutting down the VPN service included with Google One subscriptions in the coming months.

While not technically free, One VPN was a convenient perk for those of us out there who already rely on purchasing added storage for our Google Drive or Google Photos.

Google’s reasoning for discontinuing the service they started only back in 2020 is that their analytics found that people simply weren’t using the VPN benefits that came with their subscription.

Google One VPN isn’t the most fleshed out VPN service out there, but it was certainly a benefit that will be missed by us here.
