Motorola unveils the Edge 50 Pro…but only for India

Over the last couple of years, Motorola’s Edge smartphone has taken over the defacto flagship role for the company. In some iterations, Motorola throws in a flagship level processor like with the Edge Plus (2022) that Lida reviewed a couple years ago.

Well, the Motorola Edge is back and the refresh will be exclusive to the Indian market as of publishing of this report. The new smartphone will power the Edge with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. It's a solid SOC that will be complimented by up to 12 GB of ram. It's not a SD 8 SOC, but from a performance standpoint, it should do the job with minimal letdown.

The mid-range specs continue to expand as there’s a hefty 6.7 inch 2712 x 1220 p pOLED display that pushes up to 144 Hz refresh rate. 50W wireless charging helps add a bit of the premium factor into the mid-range offering, as well as a 4,500 mAh battery. Motorola has upped their camera setup on the Edge 50 Pro with a 50 MP primary sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide, a 10 MP telephoto, and a 50 MP selfie camera.

All of this can be had for the equivalent of around $440 to $500 USD based of ram. That’s a rather attractive offering for a mid-range phone that quite honestly doesn’t look too bad from a design standpoint either. No word on a global release, or a release under a different name for other other markets like they’ve done in the past.
