My office chair is extremely uncomfortable. It’s been years in the making, but I just hate sitting on it. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution to make your butt feel much more comfortable without needing to fork out enough cash to buy a brand new chair. I bought a seat cushion from a company called Cushion Lab and while it is a little pricey compared to competitors, I do think this is a near must-have for an office set up to save that precious bum from decaying.

A Foam Bum Heaven

Apparently, this was designed by in-house ergonomists to better sustain posture through our thighs and hips.

The Cushion Lab seat is essentially a basic memory foam cushion that drops right onto the seat of a chair. Apparently, this was designed by in-house ergonomists to better sustain posture through our thighs and hips. I don’t know how much it actually affects my sitting form, but I can attest to just how comfortable it is to sit on. The cushion isn’t too thick, but it does have enough support to absorb the shape of the butt. After prolonged usage, the Cushion Lab seat still retains its shape and form. Being geared more towards the firm side of what a memory foam cushion is, I find it to be exceedingly comfortable to sit on for long periods of time. It’s almost as if I was in a foam bum heaven.

I bought the gray color, but it’s also available in a black shade. You can easily unzip the fabric to clean. The fabric Cushion Lab used is also quite nice to feel on exposed skin. It doesn’t feel coarse on your skin when wearing shorts. On the flip side, the washable cover has anti-slip grip patterns to keep the cushion from sliding on chair surfaces. I’ve used this on hard and also soft seats and it doesn’t move around at all from my momentum.

After Standing Up

I was also initially drawn to this particular cushion because of the mold of the cushion. There’s a subtle lift near the front, and near the rear where the tails separate that help kind of lock the bum into place. I’ve sat in a couple of these types of seat cushions and this one feels the most comfortable to me. I do like the pronounced split design as I do feel that it does add a little bit more support to my lower spine. It won’t prop up your lower back, but it just has enough shape to guide it upwards slightly.

At the end of the day, I stand up after hours sitting and my bum feels good. My back feels good. I won’t attribute all of these positive traits to a seat cushion, but I find it very comfortable to sit on. I don’t dread sitting for hours at a time anymore and that I can give Cushion Lab credit for.
