DISCLAIMER: KILLABEE SENT US A REVIEW UNIT OF THE 9015 SERIES GAMING CHAIR BUT ALL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE OUR OWN

I have been looking for a new chair for quite a while now. Last year when the pandemic first started, I did not realize until months in how much I missed a well built office chair like the one sitting at my workplace. Now that I’ve been working from home for well over a year now, I knew it was time to switch things up. KILLABEE sent us this 9015 series pink and white gaming chair and I could not wait to test it out. How comfy did my butt feel? Let’s take a closer look.

Pink is the new black

The most noticeable feature of the chair that comes to mind is the look and color. I love having a pop of color in my space so it only made sense to choose pink. If this is not your color, the 9015 series also comes in gray, black, blue and red as well. While the sporty curvature of the top back rest is eye catching, I’m also a fan of the blended in hues of white that add a dimensional layer to the chair. The white KILLABEE logo on the headrest is eye-catching without being too overbearing.

There’s a mesh area with a gap that allows the chair to hug your shoulders for additional support. The arm rests offer a good amount of length and cushioning despite not being adjustable. The seat cushion is comfortable and spacious for sitting in during long periods of time for work and play. But perhaps one of the most unique features of this chair is the adjustable massage pillow that also functions as additional lumbar support. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this, but let’s first start with the good. The pillow plugs in via USB and the massage feature actually works quite well. You can also discreetly hide the wires if you don’t want to plug it in (which is what I do most of the time). If you feel you need additional support in another area, the pillow is also easy to adjust and shift accordingly.

Lean back and put those feet up

There’s two other features in this chair that truly make it stand out from other gaming chairs. The first is the customizable backrest. While most chairs offer a comfortable tilt, this chair can actually lean back up to a full 160 degrees. And yes, I have taken a few Zoom calls in this position because it ends up becoming very comfortable. On top of that, there’s also a retractable footrest so you can lean back and put your feet up when you need a whole body break. The footrest is comfortably hidden under the seat cushion and it’s simple to pull out, flip up and lie down with. You can really do a lot in this chair from working, to gaming, or even casual browsing on your phone if you feel the need to lie back. If you’re lying down or looking to keep your chair at a certain tilt, you can lock your position down so the chair stays in that form. Like other chairs, you can also adjust your seat to be taller or shorter according to your desk height. One downside I noticed here is that my current desk sits taller than most and this chair is unable to rise as high as my previous office chair to accommodate my desk height. Although I don’t think this would be an issue for most, it’s something to keep in mind if you sit behind a taller desk.

For the price of $150 USD, I’m quite impressed with the wide array of features in this KILLABEE gaming chair. The build quality is solid for the price point and the seat cushion is comfortable enough to rest your tush on for 9+ hours a day. The plastic castor wheels are easy to roll around on, even on carpet. But despite all of this, there is one big issue I’ve had with this chair: comfort.

Thoughts on Comfort

I’ll admit that my standard for chairs sits higher than others. I practically drooled when Alex first brought home the Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair. I’ve sat in other Herman Miller chairs at my office and enjoyed Steelcase chairs in the past as well. As someone who works at her desk almost the entire day, it’s critical for me to find my chair comfortable and supportive. Although the KILLABEE chair is satisfying for the price point, I felt as though I lacked the lower back support I needed despite having the additional pillow. It was like my spine could not find a comfortable enough point for my lower back to feel relaxed in despite trying multiple adjustments and shifts with the chair. This was especially noticeable if I was on back to back Zoom meetings and had been sitting for longer periods of time. If you’re someone who prefers shoulder support or upper back support, this chair would probably fit your needs perfectly as the curvature of the shoulder areas is very relaxing. Unfortunately for me, my lower back may just require some additional comfort that was difficult for me to achieve with this chair.

Should You Buy It?

Nevertheless, there are so many unique features to this chair that I think it still deserves a good recommendation. For $150, it is difficult to find a solid chair that is well built and offers so many functionalities that the KILLABEE 9015 gaming chair does. To top it off, KILLABEE also offers a one year warranty and free return within 30 days so you can rest assured you have options if it’s not the right fit. For those of us looking for an abundance of features with a touch of aesthetic flair in a mostly ergonomic setting, the KILLABEE 9015 is a solid option.
